Henderson Elementary has been recognized by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for their exemplary implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) during the 2018-19 school year.

“SW-PBS is considered a research-based best practice which sets students up for success. Students, teachers, and staff agree upon and learn expected behaviors,” said Principal Dr. Jennette Barker. “When a child struggles with the curriculum, we instruct and intervene as necessary. Similarly, when students misbehave we provide direct instruction so that they learn how to be safe, respectful, and responsible at school and on the bus.”

On Tuesday, June 11, Henderson and 127 other Missouri schools will be recognized during the 14th Annual MO SW-PBS Summer Institute at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO. Educators from around Missouri will attend to celebrate the exemplary schools and learn about systems, data, and practices that improve social/behavioral outcomes for students.
